FBAA gives back by sponsoring Mates4Mates

The Finance Brokers Association of Australia (FBAA) has announced it has entered a major partnership with national charity Mates4Mates, an organisation that supports current and ex-serving Australian Defence Force members who have suffered physical or psychological wounds, injuries or illnesses as a result of their service, either in Australia or overseas.

FBAA chief executive officer Peter White said it was appropriate to make the announcement just after Anzac Day, as the association is funding ten “mates” to walk the Kokoda Trail as a part of their commemorating 100 Years of ANZAC.

Mr White said the partnership would involve financial support as well as raising funds for the organisation through the FBAA’s activities including the annual conference.

“This is not only a very proud moment for all of us at the FBAA, but for the industry as a whole.

“I believe it shows the heart of finance brokers, and sends the message that we are a part of our community and willing to put our hand up for those in need.”

He said there were no better people to support than those who have suffered while

fighting for our nation.

Services provided by Mates4Mates include physical rehabilitation, psychological

services, employment, adventure challenges and family recovery centres.

The organisation has been supported by Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Victoria Cross

recipient Corporal Ben Roberts-Smith. Its ambassadors include actor Hugh Jackman,

cricketer Ryan Harris andVC recipient Daniel Keighran.

“Members can expect to hear more about Mates4Mates and meet some of the ‘mates’

over the coming years,” Mr White explained.
